GANDHINAGAR
Gandhinagar, the city of the green Canopy. Even as you enter this charming city you can feel the dramatic change in the landscape. Wide tree lined roads beckons you. It is the second capital city of the country, after Chandigarh. To be built anew. It was named Gandhinagar in the memory of Gujarat's most illustrious son and the father of the Nation. Nestling on the western banks of the Sabarmati river and a 25km drive from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar presents a picturesque view with its enchanting green cover.
 
PLACES OF ATTRACTION: 
AKSHARDHAM:
start your day with Akshardham, one of the most spectacular architectural creations of the twentieth century. this temple dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan is built of pink sandstone and stands 108 feet tall in the midst of lush green gardens spread over 23 acres. If anything has put Gandhinagar on international and national tourist map it is Akshardham. No use of steel or any other metal, it is much more than a temple of Swaminarayan. It takes an hour to do justice to the place, and spend your time to watch the world's first 14-screen multimedia show tracing man's quest for peace and liberation.
INDRODA PARK:
spread over 168 hectares in the once baren ravines of the Sabarmati River is a major tourist attraction in Gandhinagar. It has a deer park, camp site, botanical garden, a walk in aviary, whale skeleton enclosure, snake house, crocodile ponds, tortoise and turtle pits and several other animal enclosures.
SWAPNA SHRUSTI WATER PARK & RIVER RESORT:
on the banks of the river Sabarmati is a perfect holiday gateway with 30 rides, simulated snow-fall as well as waterfall, a water ride, simulated rain, a giant wave pool, a cross country car ride, simulating mountain ride and also a swinging bridge across the green valley.
ACHARYA SHRI KAILASSAGARSURI GYANMANDIR (KOBA):
it is one of the biggest library cum museum of ancient Indian heritage with the collection of over 2,50,000 handwritten manuscripts including 3000 tadpatras, statues, scrolls, coins and artifacts dating back hundreds of years.
VAIJNATH MAHADEV MANDIR (VASAN):
A 2000 years old temple of Lord Shiva.
MODHERA SUN TEMPLE:
Built in 1026 A.D. is an architectural splendor. It ranks on par with the other two sun temples at Konark and Khajuraho. The distinctive feature of this temple design is that the sun rays penetrate right into the sanctum sanctorum at the times of equinox. If you happen to be in Gujarat during the third week of January don't miss the Uttararth festival in the Madhora temple premises. It is a three day long dance festival where you can see the maestros perform to please the God and bring glory to man.
