Shimla
Scenic Shimla, the biggest hill station of the world is perched at a height of 2100mts. the stunning beauty and charm of Shimla was discovered by a British Officer, Lt. Rose, during the Gorkha war and was named after the temple of Goddess Shamla which was situated here amidst thickly wooded forests. Shimla became the favourite hill station of the British and also the summer capital of India during the British Raj.
Places of Tourist Interest : 
The Ridge :
this large open space in the heart of the town is a popular site as all the tourist converge here, while taking leisurely walks through the Mall and Lakkar Bazar. Visitors relax here and enjoy the scenic beauty nd charm.
Christ Church :
the icon of Shimla is set on the edge of the Ridge. It is noted for Neo-Gothic architecture and historical value. The new - Tudor library building is also worth seeing.
The Mall Road :
it is the main shopping area of the town ad is also dotted with fine eating out places. The Gaiety Theatre here is a replica of an old British Theatre and is the cultural hub of Shimla. No vehicular traffic is allowed on the Ridge, the Mall Road and Lakkar Bazar. A passenger lift run by HPTDC links the Cart Road and the Mall.
Kali Bari Temple :
it lies near the Scandal Point towards General Post Office. The idol of Goddess Shamla is enshrined here.
Jakhoo Temple :
the Lord Hanuman shrine is set atop the Jakhoo Hill, the highest peak of Shimla. It affords breathtaking views of Shimla and its surrounding.
State Museum :
it lies on the western edge of the town and exhibits ancient sculptures and Pahari miniature paintings of the state.
Glen :
a fine picnic site. A stream flows through thickly wooded ravine.
Chadwick Falls (7kms) :
the fall lies near the Summer Hill amidst thick forests.
Sankat Mochan (7km) :
the famous temple of Hanuman on the Kalka - Shimla Road affords fine view of Shimla.
Kufri (16kms) :
the tiny picturesque hamlet is very popular among the tourists. It is also a skiing resort.
Naldehra (22kms) :
the scenic site is famous for its Golf course. An ancient Nag temple is located here.
Narkanda (64kms) :
the charming skiing resort affords breath taking views. The Hatu Peak and ancient shrine of Hatu Mata are worth visiting for spectacular views.
