At the southern most tip of the india, where the Arabian Sea, The Indian Ocean and the Bay Of Bengal meet is located Kanyakumari. Besides its importance as a pilgrim centre, the place is famous for its beautiful views of sunrise, sunset and moonrise over the waters. From the lighthouse, one can have the panoramic view of the whole city. The beach has multi-coloured sands.

is dedicated to the virgin goddess Kanyakumari. who eternally protects the country. The legend has it that goddess Parvati in one of her incarnations as Devi Kanya performed penance to obtain the hand if lord Siva. The diamond nose ring of the deity is supposed to be visible even from the sea.

Memorial is built towards the south east of Kanyakumari Temple. The two rocks projecting out of the ocean are ideal points to see the southern tip of India. On one of these rocks Swami Vivekananda sat in long and deep meditation. The memorial was built in 1970. Near the memorial, one can see Sri Pada Parai, the foot prints if the virgin goddess on this rock. Boat services are available to go to this memorial.
