TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI or Trichy is situated on the banks of the river Kaveri. The city has been a Chola Citadel since the Sangam Age. The Pandyas and Pallavas also ruled over this region for short periods. The Nayaks and Madurai built the greater part of the town and the historical Rock Fort, the famous landmark of the city.
